Mckinney Library Program for Diwali

McKinney Library organized a Diwali event featuring cultural performances, popup stalls comprising Indian fineries and a display of Indian art work. The place was decked up with flowers, festive diyas, rangolis and a lot of curious residents who stopped by to experience aspects of this beautiful Indian festival.

GVRNKF Dallas presented a few pieces at this event. The juniors demonstrated some basic adavus set to some mandolin music to showcase the building block of this classical art form. The senior group presented Alarippu in Khandachapu, a five beat rhythmic cycle. Seema presented Gopalakrishna Bharatiyar's composition, the timeless Chinnan Chiru Killiye describing what a child means to a mother. A crisp Thillana in rag Behag concluded the performance.

August 2022 brought an esteemed visitor to Dallas, and to the premises of GVRNKF Dallas. Smt. Shobana Bhalchandra, senior dancer/choreographer/teacher, director of Bharata Kalanjali, Chennai and senior most disciples of Padmabhushan V P Dhananjayan and Shanta Dhananjayan, spent a week in Dallas and conducted Bharatanatyam workshops for dancers in the area.

June & July

August 2023 will be a memorable month for many reasons. One big reason will be getting up, close and personal with Punyah Dance company dancers/founders - Shri Parshwanath Upadhye, Smt. Shruti Gopal and Shri Adithya PV. GVRNKF Dallas was fortunate enough to be able to host them in Dallas for workshops and a Baithak performance as a part of their 2023 US Tour.

Natya Pradarshanam 2022

Annual Recital for 2022 was held on May 14th at the Frisco Discovery Center. This was the first recital for team GVRNKF Dallas conducted outside the premises of the class.
​
The show opened with the senior students dancing to the very famous 'Swalla Jathi Mix' by Indian Raga fellows. This was followed by a viruttam on Lord Muruga and Murugan Kautvam. Following this, the intermediate batch presented Tishram Alarippu.
